Q: What does Hinduism say about earning money, would there be any particular rules?

A: Hindu dharma, or duty, encourages Hindus to work hard and earn lots of money so they can support themselves as well as their family. This also falls in with Artha which states that a Hindu must earn his wealth honestly and lawfully.

Q: How does Hinduism view happiness and its connection with someone's financial success?

A: A Hindu student should live a simple life without luxury and our religion rejects the concept of greed. A Hindu should learn that the most important things in life cannot be bought. Money is vital of course to take care of one's family but it is not enough to bring happiness to someone alone. It needs to be shared with the poor in the form of charity for someone to really enjoy their wealth.

Q: Does that mean Hinduism rejects the idea of a materialistic life?

A: A Hindu should put less concern with obtaining more wealth and possessions and instead focus on leading a religious life. Overall money is very important to a Hindu's everyday life but it should never be seen as the most important element of it.
