Hello to everyone! Today I begin my journey into the unknown to answer one question: How can I find out how to get a better salary? More importantly, how can I tell YOU how to get a bigger salary? Because honestly, who doesn’t want a bigger salary? With more money, there are less financial worries. Saying you don’t want a bigger salary is like saying you live in a furnace, and when someone offers to turn the temperature down so you don’t burn, you say, “Nah, I’m good. I like it this way.” In other words, no one will turn down a bigger salary. No one wants to burn.

Before we can get into just how to get a bigger salary, let me tell you about my research group’s central question: “Does going to college mean getting a better salary? Is it worth going to college for a bigger salary?” Of course we have the perception of college meaning success, but is that necessarily true? There are plenty of examples of college dropouts who were very successful. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, for example, dropped out and invented their own computer operating systems.

Not everyone is like Bill Gates, however. In other words, I’m looking for a way for one to become wealthy overall - college or no college. It didn’t take a lot of thinking to realize that it all had to do with one thing: Salary. So how can someone earn a greater salary? My hypothesis is that through starting out with a decent job with opportunity, working overtime, and getting on the boss’s good side will bring someone to a bigger salary. My hypothesis is a bit bland, which is why I want to research this topic: to see if there is a less bland way to make a greater salary.
Some questions to think about:
- Does a bigger salary mean increased happiness?
- Does college education give an increased chance of an overall greater salary?
