Competing With Amazon

http://mashable.com/2014/10/14/google-vs-amazon/

Google is a company with many competitors, one of it’s biggest being Amazon.  Amazon is a company known for it’s roots being in commerce, but it offers a more diverse threat to Google.  Amazon has followed Google in its sales of smartphones and has recently started using its data to target ads.  To show how serious Google is taking Amazon they have taken on the same-day delivery service, and have invested in drones like Amazon. Out of all the areas they are competing in, the article states that, “At the most fundamental level, both Amazon and Google want to be the top online destination for people searching for items to buy.”

Amazon is known to have online shopping as its core focus, and Google has recognized the importance of shopping as a key search activity.  Google has made moves such as the $500 million investment in same day delivery and has partnered with companies such as Barnes & Noble to deliver books.  Google has also shown its fight against Amazon through Google Shopping and Google Express that are service providers for retailers.
Aside all the competition between Amazon and Google, they also depend on each other.  Amazon uses Google’s Android operating systems and is the leading company spending on Google’s US search ads.
