While this may be true for most companies it is not true for Valve. Valve's corporate structure is said to be unique. To find out more about the corporate structure of valve I went to the best source there is: the Valve Employee Handbook. There I found some very interesting things about how valve is structured. The fact is, valve does not have a corporate structure at all because valve believes that inhibits peoples creativity and their ability to get things done. The term given to the structure at valve is "Flatland". This is what the structure at valve looks like as envisioned by employees at valve:

I believe that this is part of what makes valve successful because with this structuring the employees are able to pick what projects they work on allowing their skills and talents to be used to the best of their ability.
