Does education hold any importance for Women?
Gender equality goes downhill once you enter the job market.Women, still are clearly trouncing men when it comes to academics, however, a woman earns only 80 cents for every dollar a man earns. Women are performing better in school than men are, and they definitely have equal qualifications, if not higher. Yet, in our supposedly, capitalist society, women still lag behind men in wages.
Despite the huge advances women have tried to make within the education system, they still are at a disadvantage in the workplace. The American workplace simply does not reflect the fact that women are equally qualified for the same jobs as men are, and thus due the same pay.
This disconnect can only be attributed to gender differences and the different treatment each gender receives. The lack of wage parity despite the fact that more women than men hold a bachelor’s degree or higher demonstrates that it is not the difference in qualifications that creates the gap in earnings, but rather gender.
Answers i want to know:
Q.1 Why doesn’t a woman’s success in school translate into success in the real world?
Q.2 What are reasons that create disparity among genders in incomes?
Q.3 Why do women lag in wages behind men, when their qualifications are as high as men?
Q.4 Why doesn’t the government step forward to take note of gender inequality considering education?
I really enjoyed the format of your writing, how it was not too long of paragraphs and you got right to the point. It made it more clear to the reader what your writing was gonna be about. Your questions are good, and am looking forward to reading the answers to them. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThough it's clear to see your position on gender inequality, I felt that this post generalized all of America as a male dominated country, but America has many successful, dominant females.
ReplyDeleteI see your point with women being paid less than men, but there are some aspects that make that understandable. Even though women may be more educated, I believe that the reason may be that women sometimes may have to leave on maternity leave. Employers take that into consideration and would want to pay a man more because he would not have to leave for 9 months or more.
