Cooking Up Success

Q: Can a person be too old to become successful?

A: Colonel Sanders, who was the owner of the widely known Kentucky Fried Chicken, was at the age of 65, surviving of his security check of around $100. Sanders owned a small restaurant that was famous in his town for his “ Original Recipe”. That was until a new interstate highway was built, causing the colonel to sell his business and leaving him in a bad financial situation at the age of 45. He did not give up, and traveled trying to sell his business ideas for a restaurant and finally found a man named Pete Harman. They launched the first Kentucky Fried Chicken and years later it was a $2 million franchise, proving that you are never to old to succeed.

Q:  How did Colonel Sanders response to adversity help him in economic success?

A:  If Sanders did not respond the way he did he could have ended up a broke elderly man. After having to sell his restaurant he did not get depressed over his situation but believed it as an opportunity to market his chicken to restaurant owners all over the U.S.
He visited over 1000 restaurants pitching his idea but was turned down at every corner. It took one man to accept his idea and launched an incredible franchise.
